Database Connection Lost (Server) - Some historical data will not be collected; however, monitoring will continue. Attempting reconnection
In the Windows Event Viewer, Application Log, the following entry by WebWatchBot is present: "Database Connection Lost (Server) - Some historical data will not be collected; however, monitoring will continue. Attempting reconnection."
The error indicates that the database is overloaded and SQL Server either cannot accept a new connection or the current connection cannot be maintained because of too much activity in SQL Server.
WebWatchBot will continue to monitor Watch Items and Transaction and continues to have the ability to perform actions on an alarm trigger and reset.
If this occurs only occasionally (no more than a few times a week), then it can be safely ignored; however, it does indicate a problem that may need to be addressed eventually.
If you get this message several times a day or more, then other actions should be taken:
- Increase the amount of memory allocated to the machine for SQL Server to take advantage of.
- Increase the number CPUs or CPU cores for SQL Server to take advantage of.
- Move SQL Server to a separate dedicated machine.
