PROBLEM

On an installation where the license key is entered and activated, after a reboot, the 14 day trial screen appears and the license key is no longer activated

SYMPTOMS

The license key is accepted and activated. Before rebooting, restarting WebWatchBot still shows the license key as being active. After a reboot, the license key is no longer active and WebWatchBot reverts to the trial version.

WebWatchBot Manager may display the message that the logged in user is not an Administrator.

RESOLUTION/WORKAROUND

  1. Log in with a local Administrator account and not a domain/AD Administrator account.
  2. Run WebWatchBot as Administrator:
    1. Open Windows Explorer
    2. Navigate to the installation folder for WebWatchBot, e.g. C:\Program Files\WebWatchBot 5
    3. Right click on "WWBGui.exe", and then select "Run as Administrator"
    4. Activate the license key
    5. Ensure the license key activation works properly by rebooting the machine.

To always start WebWatchBot with "Run as Administrator" access:

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Navigate to the installation folder for WebWatchBot, e.g. C:\Program Files\WebWatchBot 5
  3. Right-click and drag "WWBGui.exe" to the desktop, and then select "Create Shortcuts Here" to create a shortcut to the desktop.
  4. Right-click on the newly created shortcut and then select "Properties"
  5. When the properties window opens, click "Advanced"
  6. Check the checkbox for "Run as administrator"
  7. Click OK until the windows are closed.
