When WebWatchBot starts a number of tasks are performed:

Running as a Windows Application

When the WebWatchBot Manager application is started, in the background, all active Watch Items are run. Since all active Watch Items are run, the statistics may seem skewed. For example, if a Watch Item is set to run every hour and the WebWatchBot Manager application is started and stopped once every 5 minutes, the Watch Item will run during each startup, which will be reflected in the historical data.

Running as a Windows Service

When the WebWatchBot Service is started, all active Watch Items are run. Since all active Watch Items are run, the statistics may seem skewed. For example, if a Watch Item is set to run every hour and the WebWatchBot Manager application is started and stopped once every 5 minutes, the Watch Item will run during each startup, which will be reflected in the historical data.

WebWatchBot Manager

The following things may occur:

  1. The "Tip of the Day" dialog will be displayed.
  2. If the Standard or Professional version is installed, WebWatchBot will ensure that no more the maximum number of Watch Items are active at one time. Please refer to the WebWatchBot website for details on version differences.
  3. The database is checked for the last time maintenance was performed. If maintenance has not been performed for 7 or more days, a prompt will be displayed. If maintenance is not performed when prompted, the message will appear within 24 hours or the next time WebWatchBot Manager is started.
